Watch Ravens call and pick Jaylon Ferguson: ‘This is where you belong’

The Baltimore Ravens saw legend Terrell Suggs leave in free agency this offseason. It was a huge blow to the organization and especially to the defense. But the Ravens drafted a fitting replacement for Suggs in Louisiana Tech’s Jaylon Ferguson.

Take a look at general manager Eric DeCosta, coach John Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Don Martindale tell Ferguson he was going to be their third-round selection:

It’s always heartwarming and exciting to see these types of videos. For the prospect, it’s a dream come true and likely the biggest thing they’ve done in their young lives. For the team, it’s thousands of hours of work and quite a bit of luck culminating in a single card being read on a stage.

It’s interesting to see Martindale gush so much when chatting with Ferguson. While I’m sure each draft pick selected gets similar treatment, Martindale went as far as to say, “You were the best pass rush interview I’ve ever had.” That’s mighty high praise and might indicate just how highly the Ravens had Ferguson on their board.

Ferguson has already topped Suggs’ NCAA record for sacks. Now he’ll get a chance to fill Suggs’ shoes in Baltimore as well.
