Watch rare video of venomous snake swimming in Scots stream

A Cairngorms park rangers snapped a rare video of a venomous snake swimming in a Scottish stream.

Seasonal ranger Tony spotted the adder swimming in water near Tarfside, Angus earlier today.

Sharing the video to Cairngorms National Park Authority Rangers, a ranger wrote: "Amazing footage alert.

"Seasonal Ranger Tony was delighted to capture this rare video of an Adder swimming in a stream near Tarfside."

The long black and white snake can be seen swimming openly in the water at speed, with sea creatures appearing to be staying out of its way.

An adder is small, stocky snake that hunts lizards and small mammals, as well as ground-nesting birds.

While its bite can be very painful and the venom does have the potential to be fatal, no one has died from an adder bite in Britain for over 20 years.
