WATCH: Raptors president Masai Ujiri faces potential legal trouble

Toronto Raptors President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Masai Ujiri faces potential legal trouble following his efforts to get on the court at Oracle Arena to celebrate with his team after its 114-110 win versus the Golden State Warriors to win the franchise’s first NBA title.

Per reports, Ujiri did not show the proper credentials when passing a police officer and heading toward the floor for the on-court trophy presentation, so he was stopped. Ujiri’s reaction, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, was shoving the officer twice.

A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said that the decision to not detain Ujiri immediately was made because it would not have been in “anyone’s best interests” to do that while the national television broadcast was ongoing. The Raptors confirmed that the organization is aware of the situation, but does not have a comment on it now. It will be up to the district attorney to decide if charges will be brought against Ujiri.
