Watch: Rams share tribute video thanking Todd Gurley

There’s been talk about the Los Angeles Rams moving on from Todd Gurley for a few months now, and on Thursday, the team finally made the decision to release him. Finding no trade partner, they cut the star running back before he was owed another $10.5 million guaranteed on Friday.

This came as a huge surprise to fans and media members, but the Rams knew this move was coming. They had a tribute video ready to release after the move was made official, sharing it on social media Thursday.

Gurley spent five years with the Rams after being the 10th overall pick in 2015, making three Pro Bowls and being a two-time first-team All-Pro selection. Additionally, he was the 2015 Offensive Rookie of the Year, 2017 Offensive Player of the Year and helped lead the Rams to the Super Bowl in 2018.

As one of the greatest running backs in franchise history, Gurley’s time in Los Angeles was unfortunately cut short due to arthritis in his knee and a bloated contract.
