Watch Rafa Benitez almost board the wrong bus home as he's too immersed chatting with fans

As focus switches to Rafa Benitez's Newcastle United future after the season came to a close with a resounding 4-0 win at Fulham, the Match of the Day commentator simply asked the Spaniard 'Are you going to stay?'

"I have a bus to catch back to Newcastle," joked an ever coy Benitez, "So no, I won't be staying in Fulham."

Meetings over his future are planned with owner Mike Ashley this week, but the bus the Toon boss was meant to board outside Craven Cottage was very nearly the wrong one.

Benitez, as classy as ever, was captured on video outside Craven Cottage as he graciously interacted with Magpies fans - signing autographs, taking pictures and even sharing a joke or two, as you can see in the video above.

Only, Benitez was so immersed in interacting with those fans that he almost boarded the wrong bus home!

Benitez is seen quickly realising his mistake just as he's about to step aboard the coach and a nearby steward is on hand to quickly point Benitez in the right direction, much to his amusement after.

What bus Benitez tried to board is not known, but it certainly wasn't the Newcastle United team coach, that's for sure.

Benitez realised his mistake just in time and did make it back to Tyneside ahead of a crunch week as far as his St James' Park future is concerned.

Will he stay or will he go? Ashley is the only man that has the power to influence that.
