Watch: Queen’s lying in state queue paused for at least six hours as capacity reached

Entry to the queue to see the Queen lying in state has been paused for “at least” six hours after Southwark Park reached capacity, it was announced on Friday morning.

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DMCS) announced the move as thousands of mourners queued for hours for a third day to pay their respects.

By 9am on Friday the queue stretched 4.9 miles along the Albert Embankment with people facing a 14-hour wait.

As preparations continue for Monday’s state funeral, King Charles and Camilla, Queen’s Consort was visiting Wales for the first time since ascending the throne before returning to London to hold a vigil at the Queen’s coffin with his brothers and sister.

The couple arrived in Cardiff for a special service on the next leg of a home nations tour following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, after trips to Northern Ireland and Scotland.
