Watch: £4m crypto fraudster handcuffed in bed after impersonating police

A fraudster who was part of a gang that stole £4m through a cryptocurrency scam was arrested as he lay naked in bed.

Kevin Nwamma, 25, looked startled as officers stormed into his bedroom in Watford in November 2025 and handcuffed him.

Nwamma, of Clarendon Road, Watford, along with Anthony Ikenwe, 29, of Bata Mews, East Tilbury, and Hamza Bashir, 23, of Beverley Way, Wimbledon, impersonated police officers to tell their victims that their cryptocurrency was at risk and persuaded them to provide account details or transfer the funds to what the victims believed were official police accounts.

The cryptocurrency was immediately stolen and laundered through a complex financial network. Money was taken from eight known victims.

On Thursday (16 July), the gang was sentenced to a combined total of 28 years and nine months.
