Police officers showed their support for their fellow emergency service workers by joining together and clapping outside a Northumberland hospital.
A total of 12 police cars and vans were parked up outside the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington on Thursday evening as police officers took part in the Clap for our Carers tribute.
Sounding their sirens and flashing the blue lights on their vehicles, the boys and girls in blue showed their appreciation for NHS and other healthcare workers with an enthusiastic round of applause.
The Northumbria Police force then shared a video of the tribute on social media, which was quickly retweeted more than 500 times and 'liked' by more than 2,000 people.
It was the second time that people from the North East joined the nationwide campaign to clap in recognition of the NHS staff who are working during the coronavirus health crisis.
The tribute is now likely to become a weekly event as a way for those in lockdown to thank healthcare workers without leaving their homes.
