Manchester United stunned PSG in the Champions League on Wednesday when they were awarded a controversial VAR-assisted penalty in extra time. After Marcus Rashford converted the spot kick, Manchester United had tied the game 3-3 on aggregate, and they advanced due to away goals scored.
The win was a shocking upset. PSG had taken a 2-0 lead in the first match of the tie played at Old Trafford, and just needed to not lose at home to advance to the final eight of the Champions League.
Lose they did. That was all well and good for Manchester United fans, which included Rashford’s teammate Jesse Lingard, who was back home nursing an injury, and teammates Paul Pogba and Patrice Evra, who both missed the game and were watching from the stands.
