Watch Peugeot show how kids are switched on to electric vehicle lessons

HUGE numbers of parents think their kids should learn to drive in a fully electric car rather than a petrol or diesel model, according to research by Peugeot.

The popular French car maker’s survey found 40 per cent of UK parents would like to see their youngsters get lessons in an EV.

And a quarter admitted their children regularly pester them about switching from their diesel or petrol car to an electric vehicle.

The positivity around EVs comes even though 28 per cent reckoned the learning and owning experience for youngsters would be far harder than with a traditional car.

So following the study, Peugeot took a group of 10 to 16-year-olds to a closed circuit to showcase how simple learning to drive and owning an electric car is, with dedicated tutorials run by professional drivers in e-208 superminis.

“Our day with the young drivers has demonstrated how accessible electric vehicles can be for anyone thinking about their next car. We hope they enjoyed their time with us and found it to be a useful insight into the world of EVs.”
