The Patriots made a trade for former Falcons wide receiver Mohamed Sanu just before announcing that wide receiver Josh Gordon is being placed on injured reserve and is done for the remainder of the season with the team.
ESPN’s Field Yates first reported the news on New England (7-0) starting the wide receiver.
NFL Network’s Adam Schefter reported more extensively saying that the decision is “because of two bone bruises in his knee that (Gordon) dealt with before the injury against the #Giants, sources say. His time in NE is likely over as they are moving on. He’ll be waived off IR when fully healthy.”
The bruises worsened when Gordon made a tackle during the win versus the Giants Oct. 10. The WR left the field in the second half of that game and has not played since.
New England traded a fifth-round draft pick for Gordon at the beginning of the 2018 season. Gordon caught 60 passes for more than 1,000 total yards, scoring four touchdowns in 17 games with the Pats. The team is expected to waive him once he is healthy again.
