WATCH: Patriots WR Josh Gordon is cleared to play in Week 1

After being reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell earlier this month, Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon is cleared to play in Week 1. Head coach Bill Belichick was typically mum about his plans for the receiver Thursday after the New York Giants beat the Patriots 31-29 in the preseason finale for both teams, so there is no clarity on if or how the team will use Gordon.

What is clear is how much Gordon helped the offense when he was able to contribute last season. New England signed the former Cleveland Brown in September 2018, then he played in 11 games before being indefinitely banned by the league in December for his latest of many substance abuse policy violations.

Gordon caught 40 passes for 720 receiving yards and scored four touchdowns last season.
