Veteran wide receiver Julian Edelman is celebrating his Wednesday birthday a day early with a two-year extension from the New England Patriots. The deal will take him through 2021.
The extension is worth $18 million, with $12 million guaranteed, plus an $8 million signing bonus.
Edelman will lead a relatively new receiving corps in New England, which includes NFL vet Demaryius Thomas, Dontrelle Inman, and N’Keal Harry, the Patriots’ first-round pick from this year’s draft.
Edelman is the reigning Super Bowl MVP after recording 141 yards on 10 catches against the Rams in February.
