For the second consecutive week, the Kansas City Chiefs found themselves in a double-digit hole early at Arrowhead Stadium – and for the second consecutive week, Patrick Mahomes led a furious scoring charge to give the Chiefs the lead by halftime.
After the Titans converted an epic nine-minute drive into a touchdown to go up 17-7, Mahomes responded with a quick touchdown drive of his own, hitting Tyreek Hill with a 20-yard touchdown pass. The Chiefs defense, which hurt themselves with several costly penalties in the first half, forced their first punt of the game to set up a two-minute drill for Mahomes, and the reigning NFL MVP didn’t waste his chance to put points on the board.
Mahomes led the Chiefs from their own 14-yard line into Titans territory, and with under 20 seconds remaining in the half, Mahomes escaped the pocket, made multiple defenders miss, and powered into the endzone for a 27-yard touchdown rush.
CBS commentator called Mahomes’ run “one of the best plays by any individual this season in the NFL.”
