WATCH: Patrick Mahomes hits home run in charity softball game

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes got his wish at the Big Slick KC celebrity softball game this evening.

Mahomes recently revealed that he’d be participating in the game and there were a few things that he hoped to accomplish during it. First of all Mahomes wanted to play outfield so that he could be far away the action. He doesn’t want Brett Veach to worry about the potential of some freak injury. Mahomes also said he wanted to hit some home runs so he wouldn’t have to do any fancy base-running.

It turns out that Mahomes got both of his wishes. He got to play centerfielder and hit a booming home run during the game. Check it out:

You can tell that Mahomes has played baseball before because that bat flip is well-rehearsed. Here’s another view of the dinger from the NFL’s MVP, courtesy of Royals insider Cody Tapp. You can see how far Mahomes crushed it from this angle.

He didn’t quite make it to the fountains at Kauffman Stadium, but this is a softball game we’re talking about here. Mahomes was aiming to hit it out of the stadium, but it came short of the warning track.

I wonder how long before the Royals recruit Mahomes as a two-sport star? He showed up to the stadium wearing a George Brett jersey, so he definitely knows how to impress Royals fans. Mahomes could be the next Bo Jackson. Though, Chiefs Kingdom would probably rather see him stick to football.
