A lot goes into playing the quarterback position well in the NFL. Having plus arm talent never hurts, though. If nothing else the Carolina Panthers are getting an upgrade in this department. Since Cam Newton’s shoulder injuries they haven’t had a QB capable of pushing the ball downfield. Kyle Allen’s game dissolved quick after a promising start, then Teddy Bridgewater never got a consistent deep game going.
One thing we know about Sam Darnold is he has a big enough arm for the job. Watch tight end Colin Thompson praise Darnold based on his first impressions of Carolina’s new starter.
