WATCH: Panthers QB Cam Newton will not play against Cardinals

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton will not play Sunday at Arizona, the team announced via its injury report released Friday.

The QB did not practice this week after reaggravating a foot injury he suffered in the third week of the preseason versus the New England Patriots. In the preseason, Newton’s injury was deemed a minor foot sprain in his left foot. He returned to play in both the team’s regular-season games.

The Panthers are winless, with the two losses coming by a combined nine points this season, and Newton hasn’t thrown a touchdown this season. He completed just 56.2% of his passes over the two games versus the Los Angeles Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 572 passing yards and throwing one interception.

Kyle Allen is expected to make the second NFL start of his career with Newton out.
