WATCH: Palmerstown students reach finals of national music contest with amazing Queen medley

A group of talented Dublin pupils and teachers have reached the final of a prestigious national music competition.

The amazing musicians from Pobalscoil Iosolde in Dublin 20 are one of just six secondary schools to reach the final of the 2019 Waltons music for schools competition.

They're going to be the only Dublin school represented in the secondary schools category after wowing the judging panel with their rocking take on some of Queen's greatest hits.

Doggy day out! Adventurous dog takes the train from Sallins, Kildare to Dublin on his OWN

The non-profit national event - which started up in 2012 - aims to support music in Irish schools and encourage teachers and students to work together on an original music project.

There's a prize fund of €7,000 worth of vouchers for musical instruments, accessories, books, music technology or PA equipment from Waltons Music, to be divided among six winning primary and post-primary schools, including two First Prizes of €2,000 vouchers.

In order to be in with a chance of winning, the Palmerstown music group will have to impress a stellar judging panel of industry experts including Dónal Lunny and Bill Whelan.

But after watching a clip of them in action, we reckon it's in the bag.
