Green Bay Packers first-year head coach Matt LaFleur ruptured his Achilles tendon Wednesday night playing “knock out at Lambeau Field.
The NFL Network reported that the 39-year-old coach will be confined to a cart for the remainder of organized team activities and for the team’s upcoming mandatory minicamp after the basketball game injury.
The Packers hired LaFleur in January from the Tennessee Titans, where he was the offensive coordinator, following a disappointing 6-9-1 season. The young head coach has been active and involved in every open practice, throwing passes, rushing passers and dropping back in coverage, but will have to change his approach while he heals after a surgery scheduled for Sunday. The expected recovery time to return to full activity is about six months.
