The Green Bay Packers defense is rolling in San Francisco.
After forcing punts on back-to-back possessions to start the game, Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander delivered a turnover on an incredible play against 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
Alexander, an All-Pro in 2020, recognized the route concept, tracked Garoppolo’s throw to the middle of the field and beat tight end George Kittle to the deep ball, creating the takeaway.
The interception was Alexander’s first of 2021 and the fifth of his career.
Alexander returned the interception 30 yards to the 14-yard line, but the Packers still lead 10-0. Aaron Rodgers and the offense were not able to turn the takeaway into points after being turned away in the red zone on fourth down.
