Watch Outlander's Sam Heughan rule out James Bond role because he's 'ginger'

Outlander star Sam Heughan has ruled himself out of the running to be the next 007 - but says the next James Bond should be played by a Scot.

The ginger heartthrob, aged 39, played Jacobite soldier Jamie Fraserin in Outlander , winning legions of fans around the world.

Sam, from Dumfries and Galloway, was tipped by bookies to be the next James Bond , following in the steps of fellow Scot Sean Connery.

He was tipped to be the favourite ahead of Bodyguard actor Richard Madden, who is also Scottish, and Jack Lowden, who starred in the film Mary Queen of Scots.

Other contenders named by bookies included Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender.

Speaking to TV show host Jimmy Fallon, on the Tonight Show, Sam revealed he had not even been approached about the role.
