Watch one of Ohio State football’s famed “mat drills”

We keep hearing players, coaches, and bystanders rave about Ohio State’s early morning mat drills. No, it has nothing to do with wrestling, and strength coach Mickey Marotti’s nickname isn’t “Matt.”

In fact, the famed mat drills involve high-energy competitions among players involving things like player tire tug of wars and chanting and cheering by other onlooking players.

It’s definitely high energy, it’s absolutely centered around competition, and it’s one of the things that sets the tone for workouts that build a foundation towards success in the fall.
