Chicago Bears OLB James Vaughters channelled his inner Khalil Mack during the Bears preseason game against the New York Giants, stripping the ball out of QB Daniel Jones’ hands and returning the ball eight yards to put the Bears in the redzone, but a sack and a missed 47-yard field goal attempt by Elliott Fry erased any potential points.
Vaughters, who has bounced between the NFL and the CFL since coming into the league in 2015, is fighting for a spot on the 53-man roster to back up Mack, Leonard Floyd, and Aaron Lynch. Vaughters’ forced fumble was a welcome sight for the Bears outside linebackers, as the reserves have missed quite a few plays through the first preseason game. The Bears trail the Giants 7-3 late in the second quarter.
