“There’s only one thing that matters is who wins. You have to win.” — Al Davis.
Those iconic words were the first featured in the trailer. They embody Al Davis both in his business life and his football life.
He took that philosophy to hoist three Super Bowl trophies while simultaneously fighting court battles with the NFL and its commissioner Pete Roselle, mostly over his urge to relocate the team to Los Angeles.
Al obviously won that battle, as the team would move to LA in 1982 despite Roselle’s objections. And then in the ultimate win, Roselle had to hand Al Davis the Lombardi Trophy personally just a year later. This time as the owner of the *Los Angeles* Raiders.
The battles between Al Davis and the NFL has Raider Nation to this day feeling at every turn that the NFL is out to get the Raiders. And they wear the rebel monicker like a badge, just like their iconic maverick owner.
