Watch: Oakland A’s take up residency in Raiders old locker room

Baseball’s season is starting up. In order to do so in the COVID-19 pandemic, there are a few things that must happen. First of all, there are no fans in attendance—just cardboard cutouts in the seats around home plate. Second, the players are wearing masks. And third, they are attempting to social distance.

The last detail is made easier for the Oakland A’s because for the first time in 25 years, they aren’t sharing the Coliseum with the Raiders. They go from one of the smallest locker rooms in the Major Leagues, to the largest because this locker room is suited to fit an NFL roster, which is more than twice as many people.

You may notice in the video, the locker walls are still painted with Silver & Black stripes, though the Raiders shield has been removed. Even those stripes will soon be gone.

There was also a large Raiders shield in the carpet in the center of the room which was cut out and replaced by a patch of carpet.
