Watch Noel Gallagher wind up Leeds United fans with unwanted dedication

Oasis legend Noel Gallagher has once again savagely taken aim at Leeds United.

The famous Manchester City fan, 55, enjoyed a bit of fun with the crowd at Halifax Piece Hall when he returned to Yorkshire on Tuesday evening. Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds played a sold out show at the historic grade I listed former Georgian cloth hall.

During the set, which featured many Oasis classics, Noel regularly stopped proceedings to talk to the crowd about his favourite subject, football. Namely, his beloved Manchester City.

Something which didn’t go down amazingly well with the Yorkshire crowd with lots of playful boos heard.

Noel, playing up to the pantomime villain persona he’s established during gigs in the region, reacted: “There’s only one place with the audacity to boo us and that’s Liverpool. You lot can f**k off.

“Who do you support? Halifax? Who do you support Leeds? F**king Leeds are s**t. Leeds are s**t.”

In response, Whites fans in the audience, who clearly didn’t take great offence, sang Elland Road anthem ‘All Leeds Aren’t We’. Back in 2018, Noel took to the stage, at Leeds First Direct Arena, when Leeds United were still in the Championship, fresh from celebrating Manchester City’s Premier League title success.

Gallagher, who kept ‘mistakenly’ thinking he was in Newcastle and referring to the crowd as Geordies, had been on the pitch at the Etihad Stadium a day earlier for the title party. The star, who was clearly in high spirits, also tours with a Man City flag as part of his set.

Addressing the First Direct Arena, he said: “So Leeds, f**k me, how’s your s***ty football team doing?” This was met by playful boos from the audience.

At the end of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ show in Halifax on Tuesday evening the Manc did make a song dedication to Leeds United. Before performing, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Noel declared: “I want to make a dedication, it’s not a good dedication, to Leeds United. When you are all crying with your f**king shirts off at Elland Road on the last day of next season remember this moment.”

Again, the response from the Whites fans, who regularly chanted ‘Liam, Liam’ in reference to Noel’s brother Liam Gallagher, was as you’d expect.

One last bit of football chat came when Noel dedicated High Flying Birds anthem AKA What a Life to the Manchester City fans in the audience in reference to the success the reigning Premier League champions have enjoyed over the last decade.
