The Jaguars are turning back to quarterback Nick Foles now that the eighth-year NFL quarterback has healed from a broken collarbone.
Head coach Doug Marrone announced the team’s decision at his media availability Tuesday, explaining that the 30-year-old will start for the team at Indianapolis for Week 11. Jacksonville (4-5) is on a bye week this week.
Marrone said Sunday after the team’s 26-3 loss versus the Texans (6-3) that he would think over the decision to either play Foles (who started the season before suffering the collarbone injury in Week 1 versus the Chiefs), or to stick with rookie Gardner Minshew.
The Jags signed Foles to a four-year, $88 million contract during the offseason and selected Minshew in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
In eight starts, the rookie passed for 2,285 yards, with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also ran for 235 yards but struggled with ball security, committing seven of 11 fumbles.
