The NFL Network was on Allen Park for the second day in a row — yesterday they interviewed Matthew Stafford — and today they held interviews with coach Matt Patricia and defensive tackle Mike Daniels.
After making an entrance on his four-wheeler, Patricia sat down with Willie McGinest, a player he used to coach during their time together in New England. McGinest noted that Patricia needed the ATV because he is recovering from surgery on his Achilles tendon and Patricia talked about the advantages of using the vehicle to gain a better perspective on practices, such as being able to “read coverages” when he’s behind the quarterback.
The conversation then turned to how things are different for Patricia in his second year as head coach of the Lions. Followed by how the addition of Mike Daniels, Trey Flowers and Danny Amendola helping solidify the team. Then wrapped up by talking about expectations being raised to another level.

Stacey Dales then joined McGinest to welcome new Lions defensive tackle Mike Daniels. The trio discussed several topics with the most significant being that Daniels said: “I could play tomorrow“.
Daniels is a very entertaining player to listen to and there is little doubt he is excited to be in Detroit with the wealth of talent on the Lions defensive line:
“I’m really excited about our defensive roster,” Daniels said, “Everybody’s just a bad dude, man. You know, everybody’s got that attitude, and that’s what you want in football. I definitely know it’s by design with coach Patricia, and the city of Detroit has always welcomed those type of personalities anyway. So, I’m really excited. I really am.”
