WATCH: Newtown HS wins state title with miracle finish on 7-year anniversary of Sandy Hook tragedy

Dec. 14, 2012 will never be forgotten in Newtown, Ct. On that date, at Sandy Hook Elementary School, 26 people were killed, including 20 children between six and seven years old, and six adult staff members.

On the seventh anniversary of the most tragic of days Newtown High School helped a bit with the painful healing process with a remarkable victory in a State Championship football game.

The Nighthawks faced Darien High School for the Class LL state title Saturday. With 3.3 seconds remaining, quarterback Jack Street connected with Riley Ward for a 36-yard game winning touchdown. The celebration was absolutely incredible.
