Every once in awhile we run into some of the videos shared by Ohio State football and find it very personal and amazing. This series would count as such — especially if you have kids of your own. Maybe it doesn’t seem like much to you, but to others it will.
As you are probably aware, Ohio State recently announced the 2019 football captains as voted on by their teammates. It’s a huge honor at a place like Ohio State, and no doubt a proud moment for any parent. Good thing the folks at Ohio State captured some of those phone calls to break the news to some extremely blessed and proud moms.
We’re sharing each that was shared on the official Ohio State Football Twitter feed for your enjoyment.
Next … Chase Young
It makes sense for Chase Young to be named a captain. He might be the best player on the field every time he steps on the football field in 2019, and for all intents and purposes, it’ll be the 6-5, 265 lb. junior’s last year.
And here’s what Young has to say about being a captain.
Next … C.J. Saunders
C.J. Saunders story is an inspiring one. He walked on at Ohio State, earned a scholarship, and now, in his fifth-year — is a captain. He’s worked harder than anyone to get where he is, and the players on the team have clearly noticed.
Here’s what Saunders says about being a Buckeye captain:
Next … K.J. Hill
When K.J. Hill made the decision to come back for his final year and forego the NFL Draft, I’m sure he had in mind the opportunity to lead the team as a captain. Box, meet check mark.
Here’s Hill’s thoughts about being a captain at Ohio State:
Next … J.K. Dobbins
J.K. Dobbins has a chance to go down as one of the best to ever tote the rock at Ohio State. This might be his last season as a junior because he should get plenty of carries and put up some great numbers that’ll make him attractive for NFL squads.
Dobbins’ reverence for being an Ohio State captain:
Next … The other three
Tuf Borland, Jonathan Cooper, and Jordan fuller were also named captains but for Borland and Fuller, it’s the second-straight season. Here’s what all three of them had to say about what being an Ohio State Captain meant to them.
Tuf Borland was admittedly not 100% last year. He was coming off an Achilles injury that limited him just a wee-bit. Look for him to be a big part of things in 2019 and be have a year to remember.
Jordan Fuller is a potential First-team All-Big Ten and All-American type of talent. He’ll be a key leader of a secondary that should be lights out this year.
Lastly, Jonathan Cooper is a Columbus area kid, and a lunch pail kind of guy that’ll provide the type of push and motor needed at defensive end. Look for him to have a solid year with Chase Young getting a bit more attention on the other side.
Good luck to the leaders of what we all hope is a team that meets a lot of its goals and brings home some impressive hardware.
