Watch Newcastle music talents record Hero tribute to key workers

Music talents across the North East have got together - virtually - to perform a powerful video tribute to the key worker heroes of the coronavirus crisis.

Members of Newcastle -based collective AMV Live Music have recorded an inspired mash-up of two hit songs to pay their respects to the skills of the "amazing" NHS and key workers.

And the collaboration, merging Mariah Carey's Hero and Foo Fighters' My Hero, clearly showcases the musicians' own talents at the same time.

AMV Live Music - a close-knit award-winning music agency in Gosforth which provides musicians, bands and DJs for weddings, bars and events across the region -posted the end-result on its Facebook pag e, with a NHS and key workers dedication.

And followers responded with comments such as "beautifully done"; "amazing voices" and "this is fabulous".

One wrote "got a bit emotional watching this".

Among the musicians taking part in the project was singer Faye Shearer who said: "We wanted to bring our musical family together to pay a particular tribute to our fabulous NHS staff and key workers who are working so incredibly hard at this time.

"This is simply our way of saying thank-you for the amazing work that they are doing."

At a time the music industry is hit hard by the pandemic, the collective proved keen to use their lockdown time to get creative again.

AMV's Andrew Garner came up with the idea of a mash-up of the two 'beautiful' songs to sum up the everyday frontline heroes who have been keeping the country going through difficult times.

Faye said: "The collaboration took a bit of time to organise.

"When lockdown started, not everyone had the facility to record music from home so we had to get adventurous and try out different techniques to bring the sound and instruments together. "

She added of the team: "Thanks to some fabulous audio production by Tom Condon and video editing by Michael Muir, this was made possible."
