Watch Neil Lennon’s spiky Celtic press conference in full as he takes aim at the media and fans

Neil Lennon was in spiky form as he spoke to the media ahead of a day of celebration at Celtic Park .

The Premiership champions will be awarded the trophy after the final league clash of the season when they face Hearts on Sunday.

But Lennon isn’t ready to party just yet. Instead, he decided to set the record straight as he took a swipe at a section of Celtic supporters he believes have been spoiled with success.

He also had a pop at the media, revealing he feels Celtic’s title success has been quickly forgotten.

The Irishman has split fans over whether he should be handed the job permanently.

But Lennon has pointed to the face he has been part of 10 league titles won by the club either as a player, coach or manager.

And during an illuminating press conference in which he defended his record, he also revealed Karamoko Dembele could play a part against Hearts.

A clearly-irked Lennon said: "You know, the Cup Final, the Cup Final off the back of winning the league, which seems to have been forgotten!

"You know, one of your fellow peers said we had 'stuttered over the line'. We didn’t stutter over the line. The league was won three weeks ago with plenty to spare. It’s a remarkable achievement by the players. Remarkable."

He continued: "There is no evidence to suggest I can't take the job on.

"I have been here since 2000 and in that time Celtic have won 14 league titles and I have played a part in 10 of them.

"So I think I know how to win titles here.

Karamoko Dembele set for Celtic debut as Neil Lennon admits youngster could play against Hearts

"I think that gets overlooked. If we win the cup that will be my seventh cup and any time we lost the league that I have been involved in it was on the last day of the season.

"I think there is a new breed of supporters, here or elsewhere. Since 20 years ago the only thing they have seen is success.

"They don't remember the 1990s as the older generation do. I can't take it for granted, they might. That comes from an immaturity from their point of view."
