WATCH: NBC promotes Bears vs. Packers season opener by mocking double-doink

Too soon? Maybe. Funny? Debatable.

The Sunday Night Football on NBC crew began their promotional campaign for the Chicago Bears’ September 5 season opener against the Green Bay Packers, and they chose an interesting (and painful) way to do it.

The bit features the Bears Superfan team made famous by Saturday Night Live back in the 80s. The sick twist? The duo discusses a double-doink stuffed bear being sold in Green Bay.

The cuddly teddy says “double doink” when squeezed. And, of course, video of Cody Parkey’s missed field goal — the double-doink — in the 2018 wildcard game against the Eagles, a miss that ended Chicago’s season, was featured.

It’s not the way Bears fans want to remember 2018, but there’s no way around it. And it will be the main talking point early in 2019 until Chicago has a chance to write a new story that defines this season.

If you didn’t see the video, well, here ya go:
