WATCH: NBA writers slam commentator over false story

Never let facts get in the way of a good story, right? That’s the approach FS1’s Nick Wright took on his debate show, “First Things First,” when discussing voting for the 2015 NBA Finals MVP.

Wright claimed that a handful of journalists voting for the award got together to decide who they’d pick, going with Andre Iguodala over Steph Curry since it was a close call and they didn’t want the MVP honor going to a player on the losing team. (Sorry, LeBron.)

That story got shut down quickly by Sam Amick, an NBA writer and one of the MVP voters from that year:

Other writers in the know joined the Twitter chorus, including ESPN’s Marc J. Spears. Wright tweeted a mea culpa a few hours later along with an apology.
