WATCH: MSU hockey alumnus Mason Appleton scores key playoff goal for Winnipeg Jets

Michigan State hockey alumnus Mason Appleton is making his presence felt in this year’s NHL playoffs. The Winnipeg Jets finished a sweep of the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night, and Appleton played a key role in most of the series, averaging just over 19 minutes of ice time.

Late in the first period of Monday night’s game, Appleton made a great play with his stick, deflecting a shot from the point into the back of the net to restore the Winnipeg lead.

Appleton was a standout at MSU from 2015-2017 before being selected in the sixth round of the NHL draft by the Jets.
