WATCH: MRI scan of Anthony Davis’ right thumb came back clean

The Lakers’ biggest offseason acquisition got good news after an MRI Sunday. The scan of Anthony Davis’ right thumb came back clean according to league sources, via ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Davis left Saturday’s preseason game versus the Brooklyn Nets with a sprained thumb and did not return. Davis played 12 minutes, scoring six points, grabbing three rebounds and blocking two shots. The injury appeared to happen on one of the blocks. Although the 26-year-old did not immediately leave the court, he did sub out of the game after trying to keep playing. Davis finished the game on the bench icing his taped thumb.

In Davis’ first two preseason games before the injury, he averaged 19 points per game in playing an average of 21.8 minutes in the preseason games versus the Warriors and Nets.

The news that the injury is nothing worse than the sprain means Davis is projected to be back on the court in time for the Lakers season opener versus the LA Clippers.
