WATCH Mourners line the streets of Crumlin in beautiful tribute to beloved local 'gentleman'

Dozens of mourner lined the streets of Crumlin to pay tribute to a much-loved member of a local band.

Jimmy Bolger, who was a member of Crumlin Community band for over 31 years, was laid to rest today.

He was remembered for his willingness to welcome newcomers to the band and for his contribution to the entire community.

Jimmy's funeral took place at 10am this morning at St. Agnes’s Church, Crumlin Village with his burial in Newlands Cross Cemetery.

The service was broadcast online line due to current Government and HSE advice regarding public gatherings, with the funeral mass was at 50% capacity.

But locals paid a lovely tribute to Jimmy by escorting his horse-drawn hearse to the church, with young members of the band leading the procession.

He was mourned by his wife Ann, his children Catherine, James and Sharon, grandchildren Olivia and Charlie and siblings Margie, Noreen, Carmel, Rose, Angela, Pat and Irene.

The dedicated musician was a regular face at rehearsals and parades over the decades.

Crumlin Community Band paid tribute to their former member in a Facebook post.

They said: "With a very heavy heart we learn this morning of the passing of Jimmy Bolger.

"Jimmy was a member of our band for 31 years, he was at every rehearsal and every parade, always by our side.

"Loved by everyone who ever had the pleasure of his company.

"We offer our deepest condolences to his family at this time.

"You'll never be forgotten Jimmy."

A local said: "RIP Jimmy, a gentleman and asset to Crumlin Community Band. Unforgettable."

Another said: "Jimmy was such a gent and a great laugh. We had many great times and fond memories of all the trips and parades we had with him.

"Our thoughts today are with his family- may he rest in peace."
