Watch: Mount Etna eruption creates trail of bright orange lava

Mount Etna’s latest eruption sent bright orange lava flowing down the slopes of Europe’s most active volcano.

Dramatic drone and ground footage shows spectacular cascades of magma and molten rock pouring down the mountainside, following the eruption at an altitude of 3,000 metres on Friday (26 June).

By Monday (29 June), the lava had descended to 2,700 metres.

Mount Etna, located on the island of Sicily, has frequent eruptions; however, they are not normally disruptive or pose a threat to local people.
