Watch Morrisons lorry driver escape Morley Bottoms traffic bollards in heavy snow

A Morrisons lorry driver showed nimble escape work when he found himself stuck at newly pedestrianised Morley Bottoms during snowy conditions this weekend.

Bollards were put up at the bottom of Queen Street earlier this year, as part of a redevelopment scheme to keep traffic away from the area in front of several bars.

But the road closure has not been registered by some SatNavs yet and drivers have found themselves having to turn around to head back up the hill towards Morley town centre.

That is easier said than done when you are at the bottom of a narrow icy hill in an HGV though.

On Sunday evening, that is the position one Morrison's delivery driver found himself in.

To the amazement of those watching the driver managed to navigate his way around the traffic bollards though.

The huge lorry narrowly squeezed between the last steel bollard and neighbouring businesses.

The feat was captured on video by Matt Christian, who said: "I like the fact that there's a few bars in Morley bottoms but the road shouldn't be closed permanently, there should have been allocated times when it opens up very much like Call Lane in the City Centre.

"Not very well thought out in my opinion."
