Watch moment young thugs attack Limerick GAA fans after Munster Hurling championship game in the city

This is the moment a group of young thugs attacked Limerick GAA fans following the Munster Hurling championship game in the city.

Sources have said that the incident broke out on Henry Street Upper in the city centre following the Clare versus Limerick game.

In the footage the group of youths can be seen punching and kicking their victims on the ground.

Then a group of older men came on the scene, one apparently armed with a pool cue to fend off the group.

A source said: "It was a free for all on the street, this group of young people were just going around the streets looking for a scrap.

"They didn't bank on Limerick fans issuing them with some street justice.

"The young fellas scattered when the guards arrived and no one made a complaint of assault.

"Towards the end of the video an unmarked garda car can be seen arriving on the street."

A garda spokeswoman said there was no record of a public order incident in the area.
