This is the moment a rental car rolled downhill into a nearby stream in the West Country. A family of German holidaymakers were then forced to make a call to their car insurance that everyone dreads.
Their vehicle ended up in a stream near a North Cornwall pub. The holidaymakers had parked in the car park at the Coombe Barton Inn in Crackington Haven near Bude for a spot of food when their hire blue Vauxhall Corsa rolled down hill and down the bank of the stream bonnet first.
As reported by CornwallLive, the visitors, who are regulars to the area of North Cornwall, were not harmed in the incident. They said that they thought they had pulled the handbrake of their car only to discover the vehicle in the stream later.

They said that they were not sure whether the handbrake had been pulled tight enough or if it was faulty but they ended up going into the Coombe Barton Inn for a spot of lunch while the rescue van was on its way.
The incident happened just after 12pm on Monday (April 10). The family said: "The car can't be towed out of the stream so sadly it will have to be craned out. We could be here a while."
Crackington Haven is popular with tourists, walkers and geology students. The surrounding cliffs are well known for their visible folded sedimentary rock formations. The pub posted a picture of the car in the stream on its Facebook page with the comment: "How to park for free in Cracky!"
A spokesman for the pub confirmed the German family was safe and well and unhurt. He said: "They were all fine. They actually all came in for a meal."
It is understood to be the second time in 24 hours that a car parked on the pub cark park has ended up in the stream.
