Watch moment Scots couple stun pals at son's christening with surprise wedding

A Scots couple pulled off a brilliant surprise for family and friends as they turned their son's christening into their wedding day.

Derek and Charlene Mckenzie, from Glasgow , managed to keep their plans completely secret from unsuspecting guests who turned up thinking it was their baby boy Junior's christening day.

But after the ceremony Charlene, 30, dashed out with her two young daughters, Kaitlyn and Karleigh, aged five and eight, to pop on a veil.

While the guests were distracted by the minister, The Proclaimers song Let's Get Married was heard around the hall before Charlene re-entered the room with the girls and her baby son in her arms as she walked towards her husband to be.

Family and friends couldn't believe their eyes as the happy couple said I Do.

Derek, 44, and Charlene say it was a moment they will cherish forever after tragedy struck last year when their first son Mason was still born.

Believing they may not have anymore children, the couple were delighted when Junior was born in March this year, giving the couple the push to pull off the double celebration.

Charlene said: "In 2018 we had a really bad year, we lost our baby boy at 37 weeks he was stillborn.

"Our rainbow of hope came into our lives in March when our son Junior was born. He has been the light of all our lives. We arranged his christening for September and decided to surprise all our friends and family by getting married too.

"Everyone was happy for us, not one person suspected it at all, everyone was shocked. Telling the girls was amazing they are five and eight, and their wee faces just dropped and both screamed.

"It's so surreal we can't believe we did it, the day went absolutely amazingly we couldn't have planned it any better at all."

The couple, who have been together for three years, partied into the night at Lodge Anderson Mcmillan in Glasgow after tying the knot.
