Watch moment Joelinton scores stunning goal in Brazil training session

Newcastle United star Joelinton has wasted no time showing his new Brazil team-mates what he can do with a stunning goal in training. The Magpies midfielder has been called up to the national side for the first time this month, ahead of games with Guinea and Senegal.

He joins United team-mate Bruno Guimaraes in the Brazil set-up, with the pair linking up following Bruno's wedding to Ana last weekend. Joelinton has been rewarded for an excellent season with United, playing a key part as Eddie Howe's side qualified for the Champions League.

It's an incredible turnaround for the 26-year-old after his Newcastle career struggled to take off following a £40m move from Hoffenheim in 2019. Initially used a striker, a move back to midfield or a wide left role under Howe has seen him flourish in the Premier League, and become an important player for the Magpies.

A first Brazil call up followed this summer, and judging by footage shared on social media, he is making a big impression with the national side too. A video on Instagram shows Joelinton controlling a high ball before turning and firing a shot into the net.

Speaking of his call-up Joelinton said: "I wanted to go to the beach and my wife told me to wait. I thought: if I get the news, I'll be there. If I don't receive it, I'll be sad, but at least I'll enjoy the beach. When he said my name, I just cried. It's a feeling of pride, of seeing that the effort is being seen."
