Watch moment first turbine blade leaves port for wind farm

The first turbine blade bound for a wind farm near Wellington has been captured on drone footage after leaving Port of Newcastle.

Live Traffic NSW alerts warned drivers to keep an eye out for "mega-sized loads" on the roads as the infrastructure is transported to the Uungula Wind Farm.

If you come across one, remain behind the escort vehicles and be patient as it is not safe to overtake. If you approach from the other direction, slow down and move safely to the left.

The first of the turbine blades was captured on a Live Traffic NSW drone as it travelled from Port of Newcastle into the central west early on Monday, August 10, via Jerrys Plains.

Live Traffic NSW updates said people could keep an eye on traffic cameras in the coming months to catch a glimpse of a turbine in transit.

Also in the news:

"Your best chance to spot the wind turbine blades on the move is on the Hexham camera at New England Highway and the Hunter Expressway cameras, at Buchanan, Lovedale Road, and Wine Country Drive," the agency said.
