Tom Brady has a reputation for introducing himself to new teammates with a respectful handshake and first-and-last name introduction as if any player does not already know who he is.
This week, the Patriots quarterback went one step further in welcoming wide receiver Mohamed Sanu to New England.
“He DM’d me when I first got traded, he said welcome and everything like that, how he was excited, and then he said if I wanted 12 I could get it and I was like, ‘Nah’,” Sanu said, shaking his head and smiling while talking with reporters Friday. “You got that. I’ll change to 14.”
Sanu wore jersey No. 12 with the Bengals and with the Falcons for seven full seasons, plus the beginning of this season, since becoming an NFL player. He wore No. 6 in college.
Brady himself was No. 10 at Michigan, but as a lowly sixth-round draft pick was unable to keep the number like a pro. So, he became TB 12.
