Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Or is it the new Mini Mansions video, in which all members of society live in a continual content-providing loop?
Much of modern pop is starting to centre around the distinction between reality and the online world - such as Charli XCX’s nightmarish video for Famous, or St Vincent’s Digital Witness, in which she encapsulates the idea that we’ve become very dependent on “a million digital eyes, validating our experience.” Joining the ranks is Double Visions, a song taken from the LA trio’s latest album, The Greater Pretenders. The video for the single cleverly sums up a not-so-distant dystopia in which we exist blinkered by technology, and in the process create the kind of chaos and calamities that turn into internet gold.
Take a look at the video below, let us know what you think, and try not to get run over in the process.
