WATCH: Mike Tomlin is reportedly Redskins owner’s top option as Gruden’s replacement

With Jay Gruden out, the Washington Redskins need a new head coach. ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is the top option on owner Dan Snyder’s wish list, but Tomlin has no time to even consider the prospect.

Pittsburgh dropped Sunday’s game versus the Ravens 26-23 in overtime as the team failed to pick up a second win of the season and suffered injuries to key players. So, when Tomlin answered questions Tuesday about a potential job change, he was not indulging an idea he says he has not even considered.

“I am not worried about that, to be quite honest with you. You’re the first person to mention it to me in a public setting,” Tomlin said, answering a question about the report. “Guys, look: I’m the head coach of a 1-4 football team that’s going on the road to play a Hall of Fame-caliber quarterback with my third quarterback. You think I’m worried about anything this week other than that?”

The Steelers lost their second-string quarterback when Earl Thomas II hit Mason Rudolph hard in the third quarter of Sunday’s game, leaving the 24-year-old concussed.

Devlin Hodges, an undrafted rookie who was signed to the practice squad and only activated following Ben Roethlisberger’s injury, is now the Steelers’ quarterback. Hodges completed 7-of-9 passes for 68 yards, throwing no touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday’s OT loss.

Pittsburgh travels to take on the Chargers Sunday.
