WATCH: Megan Rapinoe posters vandalized with homophobic slurs

The U.S. Women’s National Team continues to celebrate its World Cup Championship, working its way through the New York City streets on parade floats Wednesday.

But it seems some haters are still determined to try and bring the team down.

The NYPD confirmed to USA Today Sports on Wednesday that eight posters around a New York subway station showing co-captain Megan Rapinoe were vandalized with homophobic slurs Monday morning.

The police department has opened an investigation into one suspect and the New York Metropolitan Transit Authority worked with authorities to quickly clean or replace the vandalized posters to start the week, saying “Hate has no place in the transit system and we work hard to make the subway a welcoming, safe environment for everyone.”
