WATCH: Maximum Security owner, Gary West, challenges four horses to a rematch

Maximum Security owner Gary West has proposed an idea for what would be the most lucrative race in the sport following the controversial ending to the 2019 Kentucky Derby, where his horse, Maximum Security, finished first but was later disqualified.

West is betting $20 million that four of the horses from the Derby controversy can’t beat his three-year-old head-to-head. Derby winner Country House, War of Will, Long Range Toddy and Bodexpress are challenged to race Maximum Security with no track or location limits between now and January 1, 2020. Any horse that beats Maximum Security wins $5 million, West also asks that each owner bet the same $5 million that their horse will not lose to the Kentucky Derby first-place finisher.
