Watch: Matthew Stafford was a guest on the Rich Eisen Show

After a Week 2 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was a guest on the Rich Eisen show. Stafford conversed via telephone, but Eisen’s show can be heard on the radio, in podcast form and seen via Youtube.

Eisen classily opened the segment by addressing “family first” and asking for an update on Kelly Stafford, to which Matthew explained she’s very much “back to normal”. He would go on to talk about the outpouring of support from fans in person and on social media, and how much the Stafford family appreciated that.

When the conversation turned to football, Eisen asked about Stafford’s connection with wide receiver Kenny Golladay.

“We put in so much work during the week,” Stafford replied. “So much time with each other, so much hard work out on the practice field. And that’s just trusting that preparation and going out there and letting it fly on Sunday.”

The two then talked about running back Kerryon Johnson’s talent and how he hasn’t missed a beat since returning to the field after last season’s injury.

Next, they talked about how tough the NFC North division is and Eisen joking references the beer-chugging videos over the summer.

Eisen then turns the conversation back to Stafford asking him about the mentor’s he has had in his life, pointing to those who have helped him get to where he is in his career. They even spent some time talking about Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw and his relationship with Stafford.
